Sustainable Agrivoltaic Systems for Decarbonization of Agri-Food Supply Chains in Emilia-Romagna - Agrivolt-ER

Agrivolt-ER was established with the goal of advancing the research necessary to develop sustainable agrivoltaic (AV) systems, where agriculture remains the primary activity and electricity generation is complementary.

Through experimental cultivation trials in advanced AV systems and the use of IoT monitoring systems, the project will validate a decision support system designed to synergistically optimize agronomic decisions and the management of PV infrastructures. This approach aims to maximize land use, minimize agricultural production losses due to shading, preserve soil quality, and increase water resource efficiency.

Agrivolt-ER will contribute to the decarbonization of the agricultural sector by promoting the use of electricity through the development of energy communities, self-consumption by agri-food industries, and consortia for land reclamation.
